Over the last 10 years I've been venturing out into new creative outlets. Here's one of my latest works. It's called "Wild Horse". This a small version of a piece I'll be doing for a residential property in Edwards Colorado. It's kind of a warm up piece for the 5 foot tall 600 pound art work. It will be made of stainless steel stone and cold rolled steel which will rust.

Subaru, gotta love to camp.
Matt Zumbo and I Recently finished these illustrations for Chris Bishop at DCI. They were used to build the outdoors, backwoods feel of the Subaru brand. Subaru has a very specific following and the art was targeted to inspire those that love the outdoors. Safety, fun and adventure.
Tough Love.
I created this series of illustrations with Ryan Smith at BVK/ Serve. We wanted to create engaging images that would draw in the viewer and force them to contemplate the message. To have a soft warm sophisticated cartoon look should lure and engage the age group this campaign is designed to attract. Check out the image, read the message. bang, ouch, tough love.
This campaign was designed to bring light to a difficult topic with a tough message. The original version of the art for this campaign was created in an even more Disney look, but the client decided it was a bit to close to having legal issues....

A shot in the dark. Vertical Branding.
I recently was asked to design some brochures for Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, and was seriously struggling with their logo. How can you brand something as new and fresh when you're working with a 35 year old logo? So I took it upon myself to rework their logo.
Alpine Valley Resort's main competition is with other mid-west ski resort destinations, but the new mark needed to have an out-west appeal. They've spent millions on improving their facilities and chairlifts so why not brag about it and revamp the old look into something that would sell the image they are investing in. Skiing, golfing.... that's what they do. Three new million dollar lifts, and renovated bathrooms and facilities. It's nice.
The mark turned out very nice, but It was a shot in the dark, Alpine valley didn't ask me to do it so it was a risky proposition that paid off, literally. They love it and now I'm able to create promotional materials that shine.

Painting.
I'll be working on a painting this week as a commission. I originally did this piece for Open Canvas last fall but one of the event attenees really liked the art but was unable to purchase it. He was out bidded. So I'll be painting a similar piece for him. Acrylic in canvas. It's a fun departure. 32x36

Late last week I finished up 2 ads that will run in work book 34 fall edition. It's a very difficult task coming up with a spread of good work, were the images don't clash but compliment each other. I reworked the Noah's Ark piece and a few others to create this spread. The Milk poster is a poster that was created to promote chocolate as an energy drink, with grade school and high school age kids as the target audience.

Noah's Ark Campaign
Earlier this year Platypus Advertising contracted me to create an image for Noah's Ark water Park in the Wisconsin Dells. It's the battle of the rides. The Scorpion or the Black Anaconda... Here's the original sketch and a version of the final I'm using in my workbook page ad. The sketch was rough but communicated the direction we wanted to take.
